wedding
I'm supposed to go to my step-sister-in-law's wedding in August. I'm trying to decide how big I'll be by then. Will I need maternity wear by 15 weeks? Or should I be okay with loose fitting normal clothes. I looked at my friend Nancy's belly picture comparisons. But she's on the thin side so I'm not sure how it will be for a plus size pregnancy. Any ideas????

Not all women gain weight the same way and at the same rate during pregnancy, but here's my input FWIW. At 15 weeks, I'd pretty much outgrown my regular pants and skirts (anything that had to be buttoned) but could still wear regular shirts if they were on the big side. I was just starting to show at that point, but could hide it if my clothes were baggy enough. If you have any pants or skirts with an elastic waistband, you might be able to get away with wearing those. Or you can rubber-band the button on said pants or skirts, which is what I did for a while.
I'm a plus size although very pear shaped (a whole lot of extra in the thighs and not quite as much on the tummy). At 15 weeks I had just reached the point where I was starting to show. I did not yet own any maternity clothes although I used a bella band for my pants. If you are wearing a dress, it is even less likely that you would need maternity yet.
That said every woman is different. My friend Jenny who is a size 2 didn't even look pregnant at 20 weeks. So go figure.
I know that everyone is different but there was a plus sized lady at my work that really never showed at all throughout her pregnancy. In fact she didn't even tell anyone she was pregnant until she was 5 months along.
I would say at 15 weeks you could get by with your normal size dress. I just recently (at 17ish weeks) started to really use maternity tops and *need* maternity pants (although I've been wearing them-the pants-since 11ish weeks simply because they were more comfortable than my bella band).
My cousin was about your stature and didn't really start "showing" until third tri, although her clothes started to fit differently around the middle of the 2nd.
HTH and enjoy the wedding!
As it's totally impossible to tell when you'll start to show, and when your normal clothes will start to feel uncomfortable, I'd say go with a floaty loose dress you can jazz up with funky jewelry or get yourself a pretty empire line top which will show off your boobs and skim over your belly! So flattering! Wear it with maternity pants or regular ones - whichever is most comfortable.
Have a great time at the wedding!
what ever you do, just go empire waisted - you can't go wrong!!!
Agreeing with Nancy! Empire waists make everyone look pregnant, so why not wear something that makes you appear to be what you are?
We had a chorus costume that made everyone look pregnant but two of us in the chorus actually were at the time.
HOORAY for Monica!
